By Sebastian Thalheim
I started making Wood Prints a few years back. When Paula and I met, we decided to see how her artworks would look printed onto wood, and loved the result. After trialing a few of our artworks on furniture & the walls of my cabin, we began to experiment with printing on bamboo, wood found locally, reclaimed timber cladding and ply.
I print on wood because I like how the grain comes through in the artwork. It preserves the natural look and feeling that inspired our art in the first place. I use unique pieces of timber to create these wooden artworks. Before choosing which artwork to put on which piece of wood, I consider the grain, colours and the kind of wood I will be using.
